I am loving the trees...

*Random I know, haha, but this plant is growing through that pipe/drane thing which in our sun room.. We're laughing because we're on the 4th floor! Haha, we had our blinds closed for all of October cause we had decorated it with spider webs and spiders and so we didnt notice it tell yesterday when i was taking the decorations down.

*Dang the pictures didnt really show the difference in the colors haha, i'll have to take more*

Its been pretty cold lately.. it was so sudden too! Last Friday it was around 75degrees and by Monday it had dropped the high to about 50. Its been cold and windy, but i prefer it to the 90% humidity they get in the summer! I am also loving watching all the tree leaves change color! Well I should say some of the trees... there are a few that are green pretty much all year round! So we went around and took a few pictures of the trees haha, its been SO pretty. Other then that not much is going on. Except Prestons Combatatives got cancelled. He had been looking forward to going to the classes. They had cancel it cause of some tournament or something... but he is still going to the field.. He just isnt sure on when exactly they leave.

Happy Halloween!!!

*Jack The Pumpkin King...

*That huge pumpkin and that is all we had to scrape out! The seeds were HUGE

*It was a way thick pumpkin
*Our pumpkin!!

I have been so happy because Preston and I actually got to spend my birthday, our anniversary and now Halloween together. He was supposed to be gone through all those haha. I will barely see Preston in November. He has combatitive classes Monday - Friday this next week that last all day, and after doing combatatives all day he will be tired and probably fall asleep right after dinner. He will be leavin either that Friday Night or Early Saturday Morning to War Path (field work) and they say he will be gone for 2ish weeks, they shound be back sometime around the 20th. He will be hom roughly a week and then leave again for a few days (or weeks- dont know yet) for Combat Live Fire (another field work). They are making him go no matter what this time. They had him super busy last week trying to get all his paperwork done so he could drive up there. So I will be stuck home alone for all that time. Our friend Tiffany (funny that the only other girl my age here is named Tiffany huh?!) her husband Ryan was supposed to go too and so Tiffany and I were going to spend a lot of time together so we wouldnt be bored. But Ryan got his appendix out bout 3ish weeks ago and they dont want to send him out into the field now. Prestons Health Care Nurse (the lady we see for his TB) isnt all that happy about Preston being gone most of November and only being around during Thanksgiving week. He has to go see her once a month and the appointment for November he had to cancel because of the Fiel d Work. She is calling upto the base he is going to train on and might make him go talk to a doctor there for his check up so he can get his meds again. They dont give him a "running rx" because they have to make sure to check him..
Well Preston and I bought a pumpkin and carved in Thursday night (Preston was off YAY). We had a lot of fun carving it! Friday we went to Camp Walker to their Haunted House. They are using an old barracks building 2nd floor for it. Each Unit here had a room. It was fun, not scary though, but WAY to smokey. They had those fog machine things in every room. It bugged my sinuses so bad I couldnt stop coughing and sneezing that i had to actually get out of there sooner then Preston. But we did make our "guides" laugh a lot. In one of the rooms they had this rubber severd head that slides across the room to scare you, well it hit me in the side of the head and i turn and went "huh? what hit me??" i saw the rubber head and laughed and went oh cool, the guides just looked at me then couldnt stop laughing. We werent scared by anything- but we had fun. We then headed to Vasquez's (dont know his first name) and listend to him and a few other guys rap. It was funny, but pretty cool. They had like a whole recording set in one room the guys rapping were doing pretty good, then Ryan gets up and tries to record a song and ended up singing some slow song. Oh gosh it was funny, couldnt stop laughing!! Then we came home and had some friends over and watched movies. Brian is moving to a new Unit next Sunday and since Preston will be gone next weekend we had a "going away" party haha... we watched a few scary movies and ate junk food. Haha it was really fun. All the guys we hang with our getting ready to leave except for a very few... But that just means tons of new ones move in.. I am hoping there will be more our age!
**Random but Koreans do not celebrate Halloween. The only places that have Halloween things around in Korea are the US Military Bases. A few of the towns that have our bases tend to have somethings, but you cant find any Halloween things here! Its crazy!

Flo Rida

So last night Flo Rida put on a concert up in Dague on Camp Walker. Neither Preston or I really listen to his music, but we figured we would go. It was a free event and gave us something to do. We were laughing though, they chose the WORST time to have a concert here. Prestons Unit, which is the main Unit here in Area 4, has field duties in another Camp. Half of the Unit left Monday, and the others leave tomorrow.. So not many soldiers were around for it to begin with, and than they choose a Tuesday of all days to have a concert.. curfew here is midnight. So anyway we went there to have fun and hang out. Well when we got there it was only around 6:30ish and the concert didnt start tell 7 so we went and walked around the PX and before we realised it, it was 7:30 so we walked back to the Gym, where the concert was, and Flo Rida was still not on stage, and there was no opening act. It was just a DJ playing some songs... Finally at about 7:55 Flo Rida gets on stage... Of course he sings to a cd that the DJ is playing. Its him and a few other guys walking around the stage "singing" to their songs... Well after we took some pictures we got a little bored and decided to walk around the base again while listening to the concert (you could hear it pretty much anywhere on post). Then we decided to walk off post and up the street a bit to wander the movie store. We started walking back to post at about 8:30. As we were walking onto post we started noticing a lot of people walking around, and a lot of cars leaving post.. We walked pass the bus stop on post and soldiers were complaining cause they had an hour left tell the bus arrived.. I looked at Preston and was like there is No Way that concert is over yet?! What are all these guys doing?? Well when we get to the car, which was parked across the street from the gym, we see that, yes the concert is already over! Flo Rida did not even last an hour!!!! First he showed up almost and hour late, and then performed for less than an hour! We were in shock, as was everyone else... and a little disappointed. Honestly you can get more entertainment from just listening to his songs on cd!!! Even though his concert wasnt really worth even driving to, at least Preston and I had a nice time walking around post and just talking... something we havent gotten to do a lot of lately.
Prestons Unit is doing field work the next few months.. They are heading out for Phase 2 this week. Preston was told he will be going to Phase 3, but were not really counting on it; since he was supposed to go to Phase 2! He did guard duty for Phase 1. With all the field work things on base are slow... not much going on and not many people around.
This Thursday and Friday I am participating in a conferance in which Military Spouses get together with Commanders of the Posts and we talk about things that are bad on post, or overseas and ways to help resolve the problems. After this phase, they may send me to Seoul for another one and then another Phase in DC. I dont know if I will be going to the 2 and 3 ones, but for sure the ones this week. It should be fun, Nikki is going with me so I will at least have her to talk to!!
Random, but on Saturday Preston and I went to the Commisary to get water (we were out) and they have a big box thing of pumpkins for sale, there is one in there that is HUGE its $32.00 I swear it has to weigh more than Preston. Tomorrow I am going to try to get a picture of the beast. It made me laugh so hard.. Looking at it made me wonder how in the world would you carve a beast like that?!!? I will post a picture of it tomorrow if its still in the Commisary!

All Is Good

Well, as most of you already know Preston tested positive for Pulmanory Taberculosis (TB) at the beginning of September. His is NOT active. After he tested positive they asked me to get tested, and I tested negative. About 2 or so weeks ago we went in and saw a doctor. She put Preston on an antibiotic he will have to take for 9 months, as well as his Daily Vitamin. He was also given 800 ib profin to use if he gets any pain; he cannot take tylenol or any other medications like that, medication that will be processed through his liver. Also he was given a Vitamin B6 pill to take if his hands and feet start to tingle or get numb. We have to go into this doctor once a month for them to do blood tests to make sure his body is accepting the medications and to check to make sure his liver and kidneys are doing okay as well. His next doctors appointment is the 21st of this month. Preston is feeling pretty good, he is just tired a lot. We will keep everyone updated!

Update

Our cute little haunted house we built haha
The Korean version of the Gateroade bottles haha
The freeway on the way to Dague, where Camp Walker is
The freeway on the way to Dague

So we haven't really posted anything in awhile, so I thought I would give an update! Well today is our 2 year anniversary! YAY!! We are happy we get to spend it together. We celebrated it over the weekend, we went and saw a movie on base (which is free, yay haha) and then I made us a good dinner. We had a good weekend. Preston had had to do staff duty on Thursday from 09:00 Thursday tell 09:00 Friday so he got all of Friday off. Which he spent mostly sleeping since he only got 2 hours of sleep in that 24 hour period! And than Saturday he only works 2 hours so we got pretty much 3 days together, which was nice.
Last week at the PX on Walker we found this Ginger Bread House thing on sale for like 3 bucks so we bought it for something to do. We had a lot of fun building it! Haha, it came with everything we needed. We spent 2 days building it. Prestons favorite holiday is Halloween so this last week we've been watching scary movies, so while we built this Ginger Bread Haunted House we watched scary movies haha. We had fun doing it! Its now my center peice on my kitchen table!
It has been raining the last 2 days, which we have loved. For Monsoon season, it really doesnt rain all that much. Haha the Katusas (Korean soldiers who work with our Military, they are usually like 18-23) told us that this year has been suprisingly dry for the Monsoon Season. We have still been taking the Hongul Class from the Katusas. There are 2 of the 3 who make me laugh. One day we walked in and they walked over to us and asked us what "whats up" means. It made me laugh. These guys are so nice. Somehow last class we got talking about the Holidays and we told them about shopping the day after Thanksgiving and how crazy it can get, they thought that was so amazing. Holidays for them aren't as big as it is for us. They do have some that are though. This next week or so is their Thanksgiving, and then they have a Holiday where they set out food and create like a shrine for their ancestors and they pray to them and "feed" them with the food for a few days. Those are like the 2 big holidays. They dont really celebrate Halloween here. The Katusas said that the places that have any type of Halloween things are the towns that have the American bases in them, that they picked up the Halloween celebrations for the Americans. Most of the towns here love the Americans. Sometimes when they know there is going to be a demonstration at one of our bases, the towns ppl will make it so that the protesters cannot get anywhere near our bases. Its really funn. They do it here a lot, they always block off the roads around our bases and dont let them through.
Oh and so I have taken up cooking. I love it! I just learned there is like a cooking class on base. They have it like twice a month where you take in something you've cooked for everyone to try and than you swap recipes. I have been thinking of going to it. I want more recipes! I have been spending a lot of time looking some up on the internet! Preston really loves that crunchy chicken recipe grandma sent me! So if anyone has any recipes they like send them my way!! Haha, oh and the Katusas and some of the Korean Wives of the soldiers, have agreed to teach me some Korean cooking so I will send them to anyone who wants to try them- when I learn to make bagolgi you all need to try it! One thing i told them they cannot teach me is how to make dog, i just learned that they have a dog meat soup! How gross huh?! The katusas couldnt stop laughing about how grossed out I was. There is a resteraunt down the street from my house that serves dog. A bunch of the guys from the Unit went down there and tried dog the other day! Gross huh?!

Wow 2 years already!

This was at Lotte World here in Korea, about a month after I got here!
I believe this was takin on our honeymoon.. haha just love his hair!

This one was taken on our way to Seoul for the Marriage Retreat... LONG bus ride!

Right before we left for leave, this was when we learned to cook Bagolgi and went to a concert.
This was at a Korean Friendship Dinner. We had so much fun that night!

This is one of my FAVORITE wedding pictures of us...

Haha when we were on leave in the States in June!
Haha we call this one "One More"

Our first dance as husband and wife...
This was taken way back when we first started dating, almost 3 years ago, at a show in Vegas

Preston at the car show..

So today is September 1.. in 27 more days Preston and I have been married 2 years! Man time flies! Haha out of those 2 years, we spent almost 1 apart! I am happy that we will be together on our 2 year anniversary, hopefully! Haha we learned there is a field exercise this month that doesnt end until October. Preston doesnt usually have to go to them, but they have been talking about sending him or Russell, so we'll see. I though I would post some pictures of us that i love from the last few years! There are soo many more pictures i love from the last 3 years but i couldnt post them all, haha it would be pages of pictures!

Making Pizza

These are the wives I hang out with (well 2 of the 3 anyways). From the left its Nicci (her husband is a Chaplain Assistant, next to her is her 17 yr old son Ethan- she also has a 15 year old daughter. Then me, then Crystal (her husband is a cook at the defac). She has a 5 year old daughter. Then there a Seargent from Prestons Unit. I cannot remember her name! Her and her husband are duel military. This picture was taken at an FRG Meeting we had. Nicci is the FRG Leader and me and Crystal are the Treasurers!
Our Pizzas when they were done! They tasted pretty good haha

Prestons pizza right before we stuck it in the oven

My pizza haha, we had a lot of fun making them!

Preston making his pizza!!

Preston creating his pizza!! He didnt know I was going to take pictures haha

Haha, so about 2 or 3 months ago me and Preston bought a pizza kit to try and make our own pizzas. But when we got home he had to do duty so we didnt. We kept forgetting, or soemthing else would come up.. so they have been sitting in our cuboard. Well Tuesday we finally decided it was time to do it. Right when Preston got off work we came home and made our own pizzas! Hahaha we had a lot of fun doing it!! We have 1 more box left and have decided to make them this weekeng haha. Its a 4 day weekend for the Unit this weekend.. but Preston gets to work 3 of the 4 days! Haha Not much has happend the last little while. Preston has had a lot of duty so we've not been doing too much. Starting the end of this month I start babysitting again. I am still looking for a job.. its hard to find one here. The Koreans usually get hired first. I have a friend here who has been trying for over a year to get a job! Its a little frusterating! I have been cooking a lot lately, and I have gotten pretty good at a few different recipes and I am always looking for new recipes! We miss you all!

Dinner with the Koums

The Grape/Plum thing they brought for us to have!
Oh did we mention it was a HUGE box full of them?! Haha

Thats Preston, Mr and Mrs Koum and there 2 boys who are 7 & 8 in US Years and 8 & 9 in Korean years... when you are born here you are a 1 year old...

So about 2ish weeks ago Mr.Koum and his family took me and Preston to see Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince, and 2 weeks before that they took us to the new Transformers. So Preston and I thought we could invite them over for dinner at our house. They came over tonight and they LOVED the food. Preston cooked some steaks on the grill, and I made mashed patatoes and cooked bacon to mix in it, we also had a Ceasar Salad, Hawaiin Sweet Rolls, and i made Rice Crispie Treats for desert. Wow I have never seen a Korean eat so much! They especially loved the potatoes with bacon and the rice cripsie treats. They hadnt heard of them before. They also hadnt heard of Steak Sauce or gravy! It was funny.. when we sat down to eat Mrs Koum looks over and goes "Tiffany whats that bottle for?" I told her it was sauce for your steak.. right after that she points to the gravy and asks what it was so I told her. They loved them both.. It is different to think how things that are just so common for us are totally knew to them.. Its fun for us to share things with them and for them to share with us. They want us to come to their house next for dinner. After dinner their sons glued themselves to the play station and the x-box while Preston and I and the Koums took turns showing eachother pictures of vacations and what not! When they came over we didnt expect to recieve anything but they brought us some sort of fruit. It lookes like grapes, but tastes like a plum, just with a lot of seeds in it! We had a fun night with them!

We had a good weekend!

They have signs like this everywhere!! They tell you go this way to reach what you want but wait, you cant turn that way! Sometimes you go like 4 blocks before you can turn the way you want!
Preston and Mr.Kum

Haha i couldnt help but take this pucture. They love octopus here... they have it all dried up and in bags and sell it in the stores.. it smells so bad!
Just goofing off while we were in his office on Saturday. No one really comes in to get their mail.

Trying to be a tuff soldier haha
Preston and Joey jamming haha
Me and Preston we were pretty tired...
Joey and Tiffany jamming out
This is the other Tiffany haha we kept getting confused when someone would say Tiffany so now i go by Tiff and she goes by Tiffany haha
Joey, behind him i dont know his name, the Ryans back and Tiffanys back haha

So this weekend we had a lot of fun! Friday after work we went for a drive around Waegwan, the town we live in, then we went to the McDonalds. Us, the McDonalds (Tiffany and Ryan), and Brian (SGT Shramm) and Joey (a Katusa) and 2 other soldiers (I dont know their names) all played Guitar Hero and goofed off. It was a lot of fun. Then Saturday after Preston went to work Mr.Kum and his family invited us to watch the new Harry Potter out in South Dague. Haha on our way we thought we had turned off on the wrong turn (all signs were in just Hongul) and we were driving down the street trying to find the freeway entrance again when Mr.Kum calls and as Preston is telling him we think we turned wrong our back door opens and Mr.Kum just hops in our car! Haha turns out we had turned the right way and he saw us driving down the street so he hoped in to tell us to pull over so we could meet up with his family in their car. After we watched Harry Potter we went and ate hotdogs with them at a resteraunt by the theater. It was a lot of fun. In 2 weeks they are coming to our apartment to have a bbq. Then Sunday there wasnt church- they had a conferance in Seoul and we had forgotten so we had no time to get approval to get to go, ause we cant just travel up there without his Unit approval, so we went to Camp Henry, where movies are free, and watched the new Ice Age. Its so cute! We had a really good weekend!
