Just a few pictures

This is one of the few resteraunts im not afraid to eat at.. His menus are in English which is another plus!
These 'Soldier Signs' make me laugh.. some say 'buckle up' or 'no using cell phones while driving'.. back rules. Haha, but the reason I love these signs is because these signs 'pick fights' with soldiers, drunk Soldiers that it. A group of guys were walking on a cross walk that had one of these 'soldier signs' and one of them bumped into it.. he then turned and started yelling at this sign, asking things like 'whats your deal?' 'you wanna fight?'.. it took his friends like 5 min to convince him it was a sign. When they were telling me and Preston about it i couldnt stop laughing... that night as we were driving through base to the freeway a group of Soldiers were on the cross walk so we stopped, one of the Soldiers just smacked in the sign, and then he proceeded to yell at the sign... it is so funny to watch!

A Korean made this sign for the Soda Vending Machine in the Building Preston works in. The first time this sign was hung up it said "this is a venting machine, not an a** tray" haha they fixed that part so it says ash tray, but it still says Venting haha, it is funny what things get lost in translations...

Not much going on..

Preston getting his DTA Graduation Certificate
One of my FAVORITE signs here.. its off post, but near it. The best part it there is this stop sign with train sign, yet there is no way a train would be able to go through- the tracks go through part of the base- and that brick wall..

Prestons Command Sergeant Major.. all the high rankers served the food at the Christmas Party, was fun watching it. So many soldiers gave them such a hard time..

Not much has changed the last little while. Preston graduated his DTA Class on Friday. I went to it, of course, haha and I heard them sing the Army Song for the first time... I couldnt stop giggling. It took all I had to not burst out laughing. The song reminds me of Disney Land.. I have been busy with this FRG thing. I have over 50 famalies in the Unit, and I havent met very many of them. Alot of them I know the Soldier, just not the spouse. On Friday we got a new family, and we're getting 2 more next week! Busy busy... There will be a 'coffee' at the end of the month for the spouses... We sit around at either the Command Sergeant Majors House, or Leutenit Colonel (both are women) eat, and talk. There isnt actually any Coffee there.. Although the Army lives off coffee! We're like the odd ones because we dont drink it!

Walks

Its kinda dark, but that house always gives me the creeps... its a VERY old Korean home that is by our 'old' apartment here

Haha on our walk last night we came upon this fort. It made us laugh- some Soldiers had also made some mini-snowman by Prestons Office.. but they ran them over with a Humvee before I could back there with my camera haha
Just a shot of the road outside post.. the sidewalks are not the best.. they are uneven and lose- I still cant figure out how the women can walk on the sidewalks with their high heels
That sign is the sign to warn you of a speed bump. they have speed bumps all over the place. That sign reminds me of a turtle haha
We live right off of 'The Strip' here in Waegwan.. its all clubs and resteraunts and a few shops.. its fun to walk it..
The name makes me nervous to try it.. haha, we actually dont know anyone who has eaten there.. usually they are just playin pool..
Another random club- Who Are You?
Can you find what wrong in this picture?? Haha, Koreans tend to spell many things wrong here. There are also many shirts that have American 'phrases' on them- but they usually dont make any sense and are spelt incorrectly..

So Preston and I have made a New Years Resolution to get into better shape. We had been doing really good about hitting the gym and eating better up until the end of November.. just never had anytime. Well we made it a goal, and we've been doing a lot better the last week. We've started going on walks/jogs every night. Its been fun, but the last 2 days its been colder then ever! Haha, we had that snow storm Monday, its still on the ground, but has turned pretty much to ice. Everyone keeps slipping and sliding.. Yesterday on our walk, we went to post, walked around then were walking home and we see the 2 soldiers walking ahead of us... at the gate they have these baracade things made of metal, which collected some ice over the day. These 2 guys walked over it and both fell at the same time- so funny to watch! Shockingly I have yet to fall (knock on wood haha).. We've started carrying our camera with us everywhere we go. It lives in my purse now haha. We decided that we need to take more pictures of things here, we will leave Korea this year... It really still hasnt stuck that we're really living in S.Korea.. But we love it here, and the Koreans. Some of the nicest people we've ever met..

Catching Up!!

S. Koreas newest Won Bill.. they used to only have 3 Wons Bills.. One was 1000 another 5000 and largest 10,000. The new 50 helps alot.. Makes it seem your carrying less then you really are which is good since we all have to pay rent in cash..

We had a lot of fun, but the food was never ending! I didnt eat a whole lot of it all though.. pretty much only ate the Bagolgi..

Mr. Kum, his 2 sons, his wife then me and Preston.. Do you see all that food!!! I still cant get over how much they brought us..

Mrs. Kum is cooking one of the Bagolgi dishs... their sons are such hyper kids.. not what we would have though cause Mr.Kum is a very quiet man.. He doesnt want us to leave Korea haha

That orange-red thing on the plate infront of the cooker is Korean Pizza- from what we understood.. neither Preston nor I really liked it... Some foods are odd for us..

The round things, not sure what they, the thing next to it is a salad, but weird dressing- notice its pink and black? The only food i know behind the salad is the pumpkin..

So windy that day- my hair was driving me crazy.. it was 25 degrees outside- SO COLD!

Mr. Kum waiting for the cooker to get hot to start the bagolgi- the noodles on top that look like plastic arent too bad tasting, but we were both hesitant at first. Usually the places we get bagolgi dont have it..

This is the street outside Gate 4, the gate we use to get home.. the trees looked so pretty like that...

Our Christmas Tree- haha, we wish all those presents would have been for us, but sadly they weren't. Those are the gifts we used for the raffle at the Units Christmas Party. I am the only FRG Member who lives in Waegwan, where our base it, so we got to hold them tell the party!

We found this by Osan Air Base. We got bored one day and decided to head to Osan Air Base and look around... We think this might be a club, but were arent 100% sure..

Thought it was pretty funny and cool that they had the Game Stop.. Didnt know it was a big store like that- we've seen them all over ther states but first one here..

Just couldnt help but take this picture..

This is good traffic in Korea haha- we also have no clue what the signs say..

The Cop Cars here... they are small cars- remind me of toy cars. We were actually kinda shocked to see them pull someone over.. They usually just take a picture of your lisence plate and send you a ticket..

That little cop thing is usually next to the speed cameras or a parking spot thats like a ramp for the cop cars to sit on...

Preston at his Field Work in Area 1

Hello all!! Haha, it has been a long time since we last posted anything! We've both been so busy lately that we havent had all that much time.. Preston got his E4 promotion on December 1, 2009. He has moved up in rank pretty quickly. He joined in March of 08 and climbed up 2 ranks while here in S.Korea. He is now going to be even busier! For the next 2 weeks he is going to a DTA Class. He learns to drive and maintain the Military Vehicles.. we think he'll enjoy it. He'll get to drive them around post and off post a few times. After that he is supposed to take Combatatives Classes (hand on hand combat) and train Goodman (Soldier in the Unit) to work in the mail room. They are trying to pull Preston out, but cant let Russell stay in there anymore so they've got to replace him first. Russell is a Soldier in the Unit, he is from Vegas and he is very imature, annoying and lazy. He gets into trouble alot. They have to take him out of the mailroom and possibly reclass him (give him a different job) because he is losing his Security Clearance. He married a Russian Citizen, who also happens to be 1/2 N.Korean... He met her at a bar here, that she worked at, said she was pregnant so they got married. Now they say shes not pregnant, and say they never said she was... He causes a lot of drama...
I was recently asked by Prestons Unit Commander if I would be the FRG Leader for the Unit. I am still trying to decide, but think i'll end up doing it. Its a volunteer thing... I will be going to meetings with both Unit and Area Command Leaders and at times may be sent to other areas for meetings. They keep me up to date on everything going on with the Unit. Its funny that I will know things before Preston or his NCOIC. Its kept me really busy the last 3 weeks and im not even the Official one yet! I need to do some training and then have an interview with the Captain.
Other then that, not too much is going on. It just hit us recently that we leave Korea in August of this year. Mr. Kum doesnt want us to, neither does Kelly... it will be weird leaving and most likely not seeing any of our friends here again... But we've missed being in the states.
On New Years day we hung out with Mr.Kum and his family (dont know if i've mentioned it but Mr.Kum is the Korean Civilian who works in the mail room with Preston). They took us out to lunch at a traditional Korean Resteraunt- except we got to choose between a booth and the floor sitting- we chose booth haha. After lunch they took us to see Sherlock Holmes at the Theater in Downtown Dague. They are always a lot of fun to hang out with... Mr Kum talks a lot more out of the office. We had a lot of fun. We've really enjoyed the last 2 weeks. Prestons had a lot of days off, and half days... We hope all of you have had good Holidays...
